Studio Electronics MIDImoog or MIDImini V30 (TBD — 4U) — searching
Modal Electronics 001 is bolted to top of Rack #3. Rack #3 top also hosts the iConnectMIDI2 (magnetized to side). Racks #4 and #5 are tucked 9.5" under the left side of the Desky desk, centered, with a 4" gap between them.
Leviasynth Desktop Mount — Racks #4/#5 Bridge
Ergotron LX Premium single-monitor desk mount (black, tall pole) with 75mm×75mm VESA adapter. Arrived April 2026.
A solid walnut board (1.75" × 12" × 6") bridges the 4" gap between the tops of Racks #4 and #5. Walnut board arrived April 2026. It attaches to both rack tops using two of the existing HAVSTORP metal clamps, secured with large wood screws through the clamp mounting holes into the wood.
The Ergotron clamp mounts to the walnut board, facing outward into the room. Leviasynth stands vertically on the VESA mount when not in use. Swings left to the left edge of the Hydrasynth Deluxe at a comfortable playing angle when in use. Leviasynth USB → mioXL H7 confirmed.
Audio Routing — Apollo Stack
NOTE: Everything except the CP-70B and SA47 microphone routes through a Behringer DI Pro before hitting the Apollos. No exceptions. Apollo 16 units use DB25 (Mogami Gold) for all I/O — no line outputs used on 16s.

MIDI Routing — mioXL
CRITICAL: NEVER touch the Live Routings dropdowns in Audio MIDI Setup Network sessions. Doing so disrupts the mioXL/Auracle X connection and breaks all MIDI routing. If this happens: delete affected Network session → restart Mac immediately → let Auracle reconnect → recreate Network session from scratch.
mioXL DIN Connections — Rack #2, 6U
DIN ports 9–12 are physically OUTPUT ONLY on the mioXL hardware.

External Instrument Setup — Cubase
RTP MIDI sessions — one per USB synth — appear in Audio MIDI Setup and Auracle X. Each session is assigned as the MIDI output port on its corresponding External Instrument track in Cubase.
Studio → More Options → MIDI Device Manager → Install Device → Define New
Enter synth name. Leave BOTH channel grids completely unselected. Click OK.
Set Output dropdown → Network [Synth Name] RTP session.
Studio → Audio Connections → External Instruments → link MIDI Device field.
K5000R Bus and Modal 002R Bus group channels created (April 2026). 002R channel fader at −∞; pre-fader sends route to both buses. This allows K5000R and 002R to be mixed and recorded independently.

THRU 25 fan-out eliminates Kenton daisy-chaining — no latency stacking,
each unit receives signal independently and simultaneously.

K5000R Integration
Overview — April 2026
K5000R routes audio directly to SM10 CH7–8 (stereo). The "K5002R hybrid" concept (K5000R audio through 002R as filter/VCA stage) is retired as a primary routing. The 002R remains available as a deliberate creative processor when manually patched in, but is not the default signal path.
Modal 002R in MIDI Quest Pro: The GET button is permanently grayed out by design — CC-only communication, no SysEx patch dump. This is expected behavior, not a configuration issue.
Envelope follower note: When K5000R audio is routed through the 002R's external audio input, the K5000R signal self-gates the 002R's VCA via the envelope follower — no MIDI required. This can be used as a deliberate creative effect when manually patched.
MIDI Chain
Nome II MIDI OUT 2 ───────────→ Kenton Merge 4 IN 1 (MIDI clock)
iConnectMIDI2 OUT 1 ──────────→ Kenton Merge 4 IN 2 (note/SysEx data)
Kenton Merge 4 OUT 1 ─────────→ K5000R MIDI IN
K5000R MIDI OUT ──────────────→ iConnectMIDI2 MIDI IN (patch dump return)
iConnectMIDI2 USB-B ──────────→ Sabrent Hub USB port
Sabrent Hub ──────────────────→ Mac Studio front USB (20' USB-A to USB-B cable)
Merge 4 solves the single MIDI IN limitation — clock and note/SysEx data arrive
independently and merge cleanly. iConnectMIDI2 handles SysEx return path
independently of mioXL for maximum reliability.
Set MIDI Quest Pro SysEx timeout to 750ms for K5000R.
Audio Chain — K5000R Direct
K5000R Stereo Outputs ────────→ SM10 CH7–8
SM10 L/R Mix Out ─────────────→ DI Pro #5 CH1–2 → Apollo 16 #2 Inputs 9–10
K5000R Stereo Outputs ────────→ Modal 002R External Audio Inputs
002R Stereo Outputs ──────────→ DI Pro #3 → Apollo 16 #1 Inputs 13–14
K5000R = additive harmonic source. 002R = filter/VCA/character stage.
Envelope follower: K5000R audio self-gates 002R VCA — no MIDI needed.
Modal 001 external inputs are an alternative routing option.
Cubase Integration
K5000R Bus and Modal 002R Bus group channels configured (April 2026). 002R channel fader at −∞; pre-fader sends to both buses. Record K5000R (via SM10) and 002R-processed audio as separate Cubase inputs for maximum flexibility.
